Dos mundos agrarios: el valle de San Lorenzo (Canadá) y La Pampa (Argentina), siglos XVI a XIX

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study, from a comparative perspective, two agradan structures, the pampas and The Saint Lawrence river (Quebec) from the XVI to the XIX centuries. We will deal with the seigneurial system an the peasants and the transition from encomienda to estancia in the pampas. We will focus our attention in the estancieros and the rural labor forcé. We also analize the process of mercantilization in both regions. Finally we refer to the crisis of the two agrarian sectors in the first decades of the XIX th century.
